Cachaça (or Cachaca) is Brazil’s national spirit, a distillate of fermented pure sugarcane juice. It is the key ingredient in Brazil’s popular national cocktail, the Caipirinha.
On February 25, 2013, TTB will publish a final rule in the Federal Register amending its distilled spirits standards of identity regulations to recognize Cachaça as a type of rum and as a distinctive product of Brazil. This final rule will be effective on April 11, 2013.
