The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, astronaut Marcos Pontes, had a conversation with the Chinese government involving bilateral cooperation in science and technology, as well as the possibility of cooperation in the areas of artificial intelligence, smart cities, the space sector and exchange of scientists and researchers. China is already making substantial changes based on technology. Cities like Shenzhen and Chongqing are already known for technological development.
The bilateral cooperation agreement in science and technology was the main topic of the virtual meeting with the minister of Science and Technology of China, Wang Zhigang, on June 17th. According to the Chinese minister, it is still necessary to establish financing mechanisms to put into practice the joint actions.
Such actions tend to affect mostly the areas of technology and health, which can lead to the development of new vaccines, clinical tests, and genetic developments
The ministers also talked about holding, still in 2021, a webinar between the science and technology sectors of the two countries, to discuss the possibilities of cooperation. They confirmed as well, a meeting of the Science, Technology and Innovation subcommittee of the Sino-Brazilian High Level of Agreement and Cooperation, scheduled to take place in September.
